Ok so i got it wrong.. wrong on both accounts. I thought Switzerland with the home advantage would beat czechrepublic, even though switzerland had 2 penalty shouts i think they would of been harsh decisions against the Czech’s to be awarded.

The deadlock was broken by a 70 minute strike from new boy Sverkos to break the hearts of our Euro 2008 hosts. And the more i look at it. The more i think Switzerland are doomed from here on in. Portugal had a rousing performance and turkey put up a good fight for 80 minutes until they pretty much conceded defeat.

So that was the first match of Euro 2008 over with the opening scorer being “Sverkos” if you managed to pick that out the blue, Im sure his odds were fantastic and good pick.

On to Match 2

The second match of the european championships was alot better in quality and style. Portugal put on a blazing performance for the first half with 1 goal disallowed, 1 ricocet off the crossbar and several other chances. Ronaldo was kept pretty quiet with 2 defeners stuck to his every move.

The deadlock was broken early in the second half with a fantastic skipping run and neat chip over the goalies right shoulder by Pepe to give Portugal the lead. Within 10 minutes after that Turkeys heads had dropped and for the most part it was formailties as usual for portugal to bring the win home.

Which they did in style scoring a second late goal by Raul Mereles in the 93rd minute to seal the deal. Although in truth it could of ended up more like 4-0 the chances that were missed or denied by Turkeys crossbar.

All in all it was a great opening day for the Euro championship, and my only woe is i put £20 on Turkey to win.. ooh wel onwards and upwards - as they say!.

- Whos next tomorrow ? Austria v’s Croatia and Germany v’s Poland.

I think ill play safe on this one.. Croatia to win 1-0 and Germany to win 2-0.
